(You must pass the mock collections to be certified in Urine collection, DNA Collection, and Fingerprinting)

The Data Collection Specialist Program is made up of 4 training components:

Component # 1. DNA Collection

You’ll learn:

  • How to collect DNA samples
  • Types of DNA testing services you can offer
  • How to price your services
  • How to partner with DNA laboratories
  • How to properly collect, document, and ship DNA samples



Component # 2 Fingerprinting

You’ll learn

  • Ink prints vs Live Scan
  • How to roll the prints correctly.
  • How to complete fingerprint cards
  • Live scan training,
  • Where to get supplies




Component # 3 Notary services

You’ll learn

  • In person vs Remote online notarization
  • Step by step in person notarization process
  • Step-by-step walk-thru of a remote notarization.
  • Software and tools needed to perform RON.
  • List of remote notarizations Platforms
  • Completing an electronic certificate, applying the electronic seal and digital certificate.


Component # 4 Urine Specimen Collection training (DOT and Non-Dot)

  • The DOT Urine Specimen Collector training portion course covers:
  • DOT regulations (49 CFR Part 40)
  • 5 mock specimen collections.
  • Students will receive their proficiency certificate to perform urine specimen collections for DOT drug testing.
  • Students will also be certified to perform specimen collections for Non-DOT drug testing.


At the end of training students will be required to perform mock collections of each component in order to become a Certified Data Collection Specialist.

**Students must obtain their Notary Public license from their respective state. This training DOES NOT certify you to be a Notary Public**

**Most states will not allow people with a felony conviction to obtain their notary license. You must check with your state to find out if you are allowed to become a notary with a criminal record. If you have a criminal record and still want to take this training you are certifying that you are aware that you might not be able to do notary services, but you can still perform all other services).**

Certifications are good for 5 years before they need to be renewed.
